Our native Algonquin brothers and sisters speak of Wetiko, a psycho-spiritual disease of the soul, what Paul Levy describes as “a self-devouring operating system, a living death sentence that, if left unchecked, destroys everything within its dominion, including itself.” The Ojibwa called it Windego. Every indigenous culture may have a word for it.
The origin of Wetiko, it is said, is in the human psyche but “as above, so below.” The physical manifestation of Wetiko is the current global monetary system, the money we use every day. …

Enough is Enough! It may depend on who you ask but what I mean is that surely, we have had enough of this plutocratic, racist, patriarchal, capitalist, warmongering, planet-devouring economic system we live under. One can tweak prices, interest rates, taxes, and regulations until the cows come home and not fix any of the problems being driven by this pervasive system. This is because the root of the problem is due to a structural defect in the system.
Systems analysts note that every system has a leverage point which is a point where one small change can transform the entire…
Excellent, Stephen, I agree. It is why we are monetary reformers right? Money is key to governance and that mutual respect is basic. I have often said that 'belief is where one stops thinking which is why there is a lie hiding within it. ' I have more faith than belief. But you are right, belief is personal as religion is personal, it is "ones relationship with the powers and principles of the universe." However, when it is used as "the art and practice of influencing others" that is the definition of politics. I think of God as that unseen creative power within all that is and isn't, why we are told to "look within" and that science and religion go hand in hand. I'm with you and Michael and even at 76 I hope to witness that quantum leap in human consciousness.

When farm commodity prices are at parity the entire economy prospers with full employment and living wages, if not then debt displaces income creating economic instability.
One of the best kept secrets about our economy is that it is based on agriculture production. Agriculture creates a continuous flow of new wealth from the soil, the raw material energy that all human production requires. Agriculture supplies 70% of the raw materials for production in our economy. A full 2/3 of investment income comes from agricultural raw materials, the rest from gross mineral production, mining etc. Agriculture is the primary source of…
Yes, and there is a disease that has spread over the world and it is much older and more deadly than COVID It is Usury, or Wetiko, Windigo, Wintiko, all names for a cannibalistic spirit that is driven by greed, excess, and selfish consumption that deludes its host into believing that cannibalizing the life-force of others including all the animals and plants, all life, is a logical and morally upright way to live. Its intention is to destroy all life. We need to end the institutionalized usury that is the world's financial system. Does anyone want to wait until that is proven?

Our world is the most astonishing living miracle in the universe. We continue to search the infinite heavens of course and so far, have found nothing that even comes close to the richness of life here on our Mother Earth. Our indigenous ancestors, world-around, worshiped this rare living planet as the Earth Mother and believed all life to be a gift from Her. That gift of life implied a debt that each person owed to the Earth Mother, and they would not take from Her without reciprocity in an exchange in which they gave something in return as a sacred…

“Human connection is the most important thing in the world. Capitalism has isolated people in a very scary way.” Dr. Harriet Fraad — Psychologist
Capitalism is the dominant economic system in our world today. We are becoming more aware of the impacts this for-profit system has on society and our lives, both physically and mentally. But how many are aware of the significant role money plays in these impacts?
The physical effects of capitalism are often described as beneficial, ensuring efficiency through competition, promoting innovation, freedom, and opportunity. In its giddy quest for profits and growth, however, there are significant…
"Counting both African and Asian elephants, some 35,000 were illegally killed in 2020 — 100 per day — mainly for ivory." To be clear they were killed for profit, for money, they didn't care about ivory. This is the psychological distortion of a for-profit money system which creates for-profit minds and a for-profit society, a for-profit culture. Money should be a public function spent into the economy for care, not personal gain, which would improve the psychological consequences for society and the world.

Agreed, capitalism existed, it just hadn't been named as such. I think too that today we confuse capitalism with free-enterprise. I view capitalism as the private control of monetary authority and its for-profit use of credit for money is a parasite on free-enterprise. But I think Stephen's point is absolutely correct that the problem is political, that money controls our politics and it must be the other way around to create a just economy. However, it seems the 'psychological consequences' of living under a system of institutionalized usury (individualistic non-cooperation) keeps much of the population from effectively coming together and organizing for change. Also, not sure why the NEED Act hr2990 from the 112th Congress is not being promoted here because it would put our politics back in control of the money. monetaryalliance.org
